ABOUT US

Created in 2010, Orn Spirit is a band of Portuguese origin that creates multiple versions of traditional music from around the world, using tools and environments to recreate the return to nature and the Primordial Sound. The name Orn Spirit - The Spirit of Trees - expresses the concept they intend to convey through music and their performances, a soundtrack to a story long lost in time and space. The visual and sound environment proposed by the band is a return to the roots of fairy tales, accompanied by the solemnity and the strength of the ancient warriors.

The concerts, often complemented by video projections and dance, characterized by improvisation and feeling, can be experienced by dancing, jumping, or even meditating. They are an invitation to enter into stories of ancient peoples who lived in harmony with animals and forest trees, constantly serving up music to communicate and to enhance the bond between the physical existence, feelings and nature. The need to protect the nature of the threats of a changing world, meant that these people began to become warriors also, which were gradually disappearing. Their story remains in our memory by melodies sung in their honor,  which still echo in bird songs, in the voices of the trees, the echoes of the mountains and the sound of the wind.

Thus we see that the musical influences of Orn Spirit include traditional and tribal music from Europe, from the Mediterranean to northern Europe, through the Balkan music, Sephardic and North Africa, who have a longstanding connection with the very Portuguese traditional music. There are also clear the influences from Classic in fusion with Progressive Rock, as well as the soundtracks created by Hans Zimmer, the dramatic setting of Opeth and Amogh Symphony, or the experimental music of Bjork.

The band consists of three core elements, to which are added regularly invited artists. The musical atmosphere of the concert is complemented by visual characterization of the environment and the band members themselves, literally wearing the skin of the characters of the stories we want to tell.

Each of these musicians has the versatility to play several instruments, making both albums and live concerts full of variations and rich sound.
